Trilene is a highly specialized blend of aromatics and aliphatic solvents specially designed to remove wax and asphaltene deposits. Trilene-based systems are often spotted across the deposit or into the formation and allowed to soak for 24 hours. The solvent blend can also be added to hydrochloric acid systems (10% v/v to 40% v/v) as the continuous phase of an emulsion or as a pre-flush, and helps remove organic deposits from formation scale surfaces, providing the acid with a clean surface area to react with. Trilene can be added as a second phase or it can be emulsified into the acid. To obtain the best results during solvent treatments, 1 L/m3 of ASA-2 and 1 L/m3 of WI-1 are often added to Trilene.
